In 2018, I joined a weekly group for artists. We were asked to bring in work that dealt with personal history. I initially brought in simple ink drawings of childhood memories. As the weeks went on, a memoir emerged. This project began just before coming out as a transgender woman, when I was feeling quite grim about life as Bryan. With the one-two punch of the upheaval of coming out and then Covid hitting a few months later, I set the project aside for a couple of years. In 2023, I came back to it and was surprised to find that color and expressive line and shading had entered the picture. Here are some pages from this work-in-progress.
